Specialty Access Painters | 800-538-6723

High-Reach Environments. Over-Obstacle Maneuvering. Custom Rigging Solutions.

If regular painters cannot find a place to park their ladders, they will turn down your job. At RSP Painting, we take the exact opposite approach. We specialize in Specialty Access Painting—which means if a structure exists high in the air or out of normal reach, we have the advanced rigging, technical climbing gear, and high-altitude certifications to get to it and paint it perfectly.

Some buildings feature complex architecture, stand over active water, sit inside tight city alleys, or feature vertical drops hundreds of feet in the sky where heavy trucks simply cannot navigate. We solve these structural puzzles safely. From high-mast towers and massive industrial structures to historical steeples and structural bridge steel, we get our crews in, prep the surfaces right, and apply premium coatings with zero damage to your daily business operations.

If you have an “impossible” structure to reach, call us today at 800-538-6723 for an expert solution.

Every Specialty Access Method We Utilize

We do not rely on standard methods. We match the exact high-reach or over-obstacle technology to your unique property footprint.

  • Industrial Rope Access (Rappelling): Our painters utilize certified two-rope climbing systems to descend down vertical skyscrapers, towers, and cliffs, working with zero footprint on the ground below.

  • Swing-Stage Suspended Scaffolding: We rig motorized aluminum hanging platforms from heavy rooftop outriggers to safely paint multi-story building facades and high-rise windows.

  • Massive Articulating Boom Lifts: We operate heavy-duty four-wheel-drive aerial boom platforms extending from 80 feet to over 130 feet into the air to safely maneuver over obstacles and landscaping.

  • Hanging & Cantilevered Scaffolding: For structures over active water, train tracks, or fragile highway sound barriers, we build suspended scaffolding that hangs directly beneath the structure.

High-Reach & Complex Structures We Paint

We provide industrial-strength corrosion control and aesthetic refreshes for assets that standard contractors avoid.

  • Skyscrapers & High-Rise Towers: We paint corporate office columns, penthouse trim, and exterior masonry hundreds of feet up.

  • Smokestacks & Flare Stacks: We apply extreme heat-resistant coatings to the tallest exhaust and emission systems in the industrial sector.

  • Bridges, Overpasses & Highway Infrastructure: We rig over active rivers or roadways to paint structural steel and concrete support columns.

  • Amusement Park Rides & Rollercoasters: We navigate complex, curving steel supports to apply bright, impact-resistant polyurethane coatings.

  • Church Steeples & Historic Domes: We use specialized scaffolding and ropes to restore delicate architectural landmarks without damaging old slate or wood.

  • High-Mast Lighting & Antenna Towers: We paint the high exterior frames, platforms, and steel beams of massive communications and lighting networks to stop rust.

Safety Metrics & Pedestrian Protection

Working in extreme high-reach environments demands a flawless safety culture. We protect our workers, your assets, and the public:

  • Independent Redundant Lifelines: Every worker climbing or rappelling is attached to an independent safety line with automated fall-arrest brakes completely separate from their primary working line.

  • Debris & Splatter Containment Nets: We wrap our hanging stages and lifts in heavy mesh netting to completely catch any falling debris, tools, or paint droplets before they can drift.

  • Wind-Speed Monitoring: Our safety managers keep active track of weather conditions on-site, enforcing strict cutout limits if high-altitude winds pose a risk to the crew or rigging.

  • Pedestrian Sidewalk Canopies: For busy metropolitan settings, we construct sturdy overhead protection corridors on the ground, keeping city foot traffic 100% safe while we paint above.

Large FAQ Area (Common Specialty Access Questions)

What is Industrial Rope Access and is it safe for painting? Industrial Rope Access is a highly regulated method where painters use specialized rock-climbing and industrial ropes to descend down a structure. It is incredibly safe—every painter uses a two-rope system (a working line and a backup safety line) with automatic locking gear. It allows us to paint tight corners where a heavy truck lift cannot squeeze in.

Will heavy lift equipment damage our expensive landscaping or concrete sidewalks? Massive trucks can crack sidewalks and tear up grass. That is exactly why we use specialty access. By utilizing swing stages hanging from the roof or rope access, our workers do not touch the ground at all. Your manicured lawns, brick driveways, and pedestrian paths stay completely untouched.

Can you paint structures that sit over running water or busy train tracks? Yes. We use specialized bridge-hanging rigging or suspended scaffolding platforms that clip beneath the structure. We coordinate directly with local rail lines or environmental agencies to ensure we use protective catch-tarps, ensuring zero paint chips or liquids drop into the environment below.

What happens if the wind picks up while you are working high up on a tower? We monitor real-time wind speeds constantly using digital anemometers. If the wind speed rises above safe working limits (typically 20 to 25 mph depending on the access method), our crews immediately anchor their gear, lower themselves to the ground safely, and wait out the weather.

Why is it better to use a swing stage instead of a regular crane or boom lift? Standard boom lifts max out around 100 to 150 feet and require a massive, flat parking space on the ground. If your building is taller than 10 stories, or is surrounded by power lines, alleys, or soft soil, a lift cannot be used. A swing stage can reach any height, has no altitude limits, and leaves your ground floor completely open.

Are your specialty access painters fully certified? Absolutely. Working at these extremes requires documented proof of skill. Our crews hold certifications in OSHA Fall Protection, Certified Aerial Platform Operation, and specialized high-altitude rigging standards.

Does your high-reach work require special insurance coverages? Yes. Standard commercial insurance does not cover workers rappelling off high-rises or rigging over bridges. RSP Painting carries massive, specialized high-altitude liability insurance lines and state-compliant workers’ compensation policies that cover all specialty access parameters completely.

How do we get a quote for a highly complex or high-reach structure? Simply call 800-538-6723. Our estimators can evaluate your facility blueprints, analyze high-resolution satellite imagery, or perform a technical site walk-through to build a customized, fixed-price rigging and painting plan.
