Tall Structures. Tough Coatings. 100% Self-Performing.

Silos are massive investments that work hard every day. Whether they hold grain, cement, chemicals, or liquids, they are constantly fighting the weather. When a silo starts to rust or peel, it’s not just an eyesore—it’s a sign that the metal or concrete is getting weak. At RSP Painting, we specialize in painting tall structures safely and professionally. We are a 100% self-performing company, which means our own background-checked workers do the job. We never hire outside subcontractors.

What We Do for Your Silos

We handle everything from small farm bins to massive industrial storage clusters.

  • Full Cleaning: We power wash the entire silo to remove dirt, mold, and old flaking paint so the new coat sticks tight.

  • Rust Removal: For metal silos, we grind and scrape away rust spots to stop them from eating through the wall.

  • Special Primers: We use “rust-locking” primers on metal and “sealing” primers on concrete to make sure the finish lasts.

  • Heat-Reflecting Paint: We can use bright white or reflective coatings that keep the inside of the silo cooler—this is great for grain or temperature-sensitive materials.

  • Concrete Repair: If your concrete silo has cracks or “spalling,” we fix the surface before painting to keep water from getting inside.

  • Logo & Branding: We can paint your company name or logo high up on the silo so everyone can see it from the road.

  • High-Reach Access: We use big boom lifts and specialized hanging scaffolds to reach the very top of any silo safely.

Why Choose RSP for Silo Painting?

  1. Safety Experts: Painting 100 feet in the air is dangerous. Our workers are experts in fall protection and high-reach safety.

  2. No Middlemen: We don’t “sell” your job to someone else. You get RSP employees and RSP quality every single time.

  3. Industrial Strength: we use heavy-duty paints that handle the sun, wind, and rain much better than standard paint.

  4. We Work Around You: We know your facility is busy. We schedule our work so we stay out of the way of your trucks and daily operations.

Large FAQ Area

Why should I paint my silo? A silo is a huge piece of equipment. Paint is the only thing protecting the metal from rusting away or the concrete from cracking. Regular painting prevents expensive repairs and keeps your materials safe and dry inside.

How do you reach the top of a very tall silo? We use specialized equipment like high-reach boom lifts (cherry pickers) or swing-stage scaffolding that hangs from the top. Our team is fully trained and certified to work at great heights safely.

Can you paint a silo while it is full? Yes. In most cases, we can paint the exterior of the silo while it is in use. We make sure our equipment doesn’t block your loading or unloading areas.

How do you handle rust? Rust is the biggest enemy of metal silos. We don’t just paint over it. We use grinders and wire brushes to remove the rust down to the clean metal, then apply a high-quality industrial primer that stops rust from growing back.

What kind of paint do you use? We use industrial-grade coatings like epoxies and urethanes. These are much thicker and stronger than house paint. They are made to stretch and shrink with the metal as it gets hot and cold, so the paint doesn’t crack.

Will the paint get on our other buildings or trucks? No. We are very careful about “overspray.” We check wind speeds every morning and use specialized rollers or “low-overspray” sprayers. We also cover nearby equipment and vehicles with plastic when needed.

Does a white silo stay cooler? Yes! Painting a silo bright white reflects the sun’s energy. This can lower the temperature inside the silo significantly, which helps prevent spoilage for grain or chemical reactions for other materials.

How often does a silo need to be painted? A professional industrial paint job from RSP usually lasts 10 to 15 years, depending on your weather and what you are storing. Regular inspections can help you catch small problems before they become big ones.

Do you paint the pipes and ladders too? Yes. We paint the exterior ladders, handrails, pipes, and cages. We usually paint these in “Safety Yellow” or a high-visibility color so they are easy to see and safe to use.

How do I get a price for my silo project? Just call 800-538-6723. We can often give you an estimate by looking at the size and type of your silos, or by sending a supervisor out for a quick site visit.
