Professional Equipment Painting, Degreasing & Color Coding

RSP Painting understands the manufacturing floor. In an industrial plant, your machinery is your livelihood. But over time, hydraulic fluid, harsh chemicals, extreme heat, and constant vibration cause factory finishes to fail. Rusted, peeling equipment doesn’t just look bad—it lowers employee morale, hides dangerous fluid leaks, and leads to costly OSHA violations.

Why spend millions replacing heavy equipment when you can restore it? We are the premier industrial machinery painting contractors in the USA. With over $8 million in annual revenue and a dedicated workforce of 30+ highly trained professionals, RSP has the scale to tackle massive plant-wide refinishing projects.

Whether you operate an automotive stamping plant in Michigan, an aerospace facility in Washington, or a heavy manufacturing plant in Ohio, RSP delivers factory-grade finishes directly to your floor, across all 50 states.

The RSP Difference: 5S Compliance & Zero Downtime

  • Shutdown & Weekend Scheduling: We know that a stopped machine costs you thousands of dollars an hour. We specialize in working during planned holiday shutdowns, 3rd shifts, or weekends to ensure zero disruption to your production quotas.

  • Electrostatic Precision: We utilize advanced electrostatic painting technology to paint intricate machinery right on your factory floor. The paint wraps around the metal like a magnet, resulting in a flawless finish with virtually zero overspray.

  • No Subcontractors: Industrial environments are dangerous, and liability is high. We do not use unknown subcontractors. Our W-2 employees are fully trained in Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and industrial safety protocols.

Comprehensive Machinery & Equipment Services

We restore everything from CNC machines and robotic arms to massive stamping presses and overhead cranes.

1. Heavy-Duty Degreasing & Surface Preparation

Paint will never stick to grease or cutting fluid. Preparation is 90% of a successful machinery painting job.

  • Industrial Cleaning: We utilize high-temperature steam cleaning, solvent degreasing, and biodegradable emulsifiers to strip decades of baked-on carbon, grease, and oil from your equipment.

  • Abrasive Blasting: For heavily rusted components, we use dry ice blasting, sponge blasting, or localized sandblasting to remove rust and scale down to bare metal (SSPC-SP3 to SP6 standards) without damaging sensitive hydraulics or wiring.

2. OSHA & ANSI Safety Color Coding

A visual workplace is a safe workplace. We help you achieve and maintain 5S and Lean Manufacturing standards.

  • Visual Management: We paint pinch points, moving parts, and hazardous areas according to strict ANSI color codes (e.g., Safety Yellow for physical hazards, Safety Orange for exposed parts, Safety Blue for electrical controls).

  • Leak Detection: Painting a machine base a bright, clean color (like machinery gray or white) allows your maintenance team to instantly spot hydraulic leaks or oil drips before they cause a catastrophic failure.

3. High-Performance Industrial Coatings

We don’t use standard house paint; we use coatings engineered for the harshest environments on earth.

  • Direct-to-Metal (DTM) Urethanes: We apply high-gloss, chemical-resistant urethanes that repel cutting fluids, resist chipping from impact, and are easily wiped clean.

  • High-Temperature Coatings: For boilers, exhaust stacks, ovens, and heat exchangers, we apply specialized silicone-alkyd coatings capable of withstanding continuous temperatures up to 1,200°F.

4. Facility Infrastructure & Cranes

  • Overhead Cranes & Hoists: We paint massive overhead bridge cranes and structural supports in safety yellow to ensure high visibility for forklift drivers and floor workers.

  • Tanks, Pipes & Silos: We color-code industrial piping systems and restore the exterior of bulk storage tanks to protect them from corrosive factory atmospheres.

The Process: Factory Refinishing On-Site

Painting a complex machine in place requires surgical precision. Here is the RSP protocol:

  1. LOTO & Safety Briefing: Our crews coordinate with your Safety Manager to ensure all equipment is fully de-energized, locked out, and tagged out before we touch a single bolt.

  2. Meticulous Masking: We spend hours hand-masking data plates, gauges, sight glasses, hydraulic hoses, exposed cylinder rods, and electronic control panels.

  3. Application: Using electrostatic sprayers or HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) systems, we apply a rust-inhibiting epoxy primer followed by a durable urethane topcoat.

  4. Unmasking & Inspection: We remove all masking and perform a joint walk-through with your maintenance team to ensure all moving parts are free of paint and fully operational.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can you paint our machines without overspray getting on our inventory? A: Yes. Our electrostatic painting process charges the paint particles so they are magnetically drawn to the grounded metal machine. This creates a “wrap-around” effect with up to 98% transfer efficiency, meaning there is virtually no fog or overspray to contaminate your facility.

Q: Do we need to disassemble the machinery? A: No. We specialize in painting machinery in situ (in place). Our careful masking and precision spray techniques allow us to paint the equipment exactly where it sits without requiring costly teardowns.

Q: How long does the paint take to cure? A: We use fast-curing two-part industrial coatings. In most cases, the machinery is dry to the touch in a few hours and ready to be put back into full production for the next morning’s shift.
